Decision-making frameworks

Decisions affecting the public may be made by many different actors ranging from a single person (such as a government minister) to collaborations of varying degree between bureaucrats and the public, with the entire adult population at the far end of this spectrum (such as in a referendum). The suitability and effectiveness of the actors and processes for decision-making would depend on the issues and context relating to the decisions to be made. This PhD research project will compare and evaluate different decision-making frameworks utilised in Australia and elsewhere in a variety of contexts relating to sustainability. Its contribution would be to aid and support selection of appropriate actors and processes for sustainability-related decision-making.
