Distributed generation and intelligent grid in the Asia-Pacific
The Institute is collaborating with the CSIRO, the University of Queensland and the Australian Technology Network of Universities on an Intelligent Grid Cluster. Running from 2007 to 2010, the Cluster will undertake cross-disciplinary research into the economic, social and technical issues around a future Intelligent Grid that addresses the growing need for peak power with minimal greenhouse emissions. The existing focus of the research is on distributed generation and the Intelligent Grid in Australia. We are interested in expanding the research to consider the role of distributed generation and the Intelligent Grid in supporting the development of sustainable energy systems in developing countries, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
