Urban water security for Australia: a new approach using smart technology

  • Do you want to undertake novel research into ensuring urban water security in Australian cities?Ensuring urban water security requires more accurate data to manage the uncertainty of climate change and shifting consumption patterns.

This project would test the effectiveness of new 'smart metering technologies' for monitoring consumption in residential homes more often and with greater resolution; and to develop the potential for this information to inform urban water planning.

Significantly, the new metering and analysis approaches will, for the first time, reveal how and when we use water, how use varies across NSW, VIC, QLD and methodologies for identifying cost-effective water savings.

Your research would deliver an improved understanding of water using behaviours, new analysis approaches and accurate data to inform planning in an uncertain future.
