We see sustainability as a global imperative. We provide leading edge research for our government, NGOs and consultancies to address the complex challenges of this sector. In particular we support integration of sustainability to development practice and theory and have a particular focus on improving aid effectiveness for poverty reduction and building capacity within communities and government to address their own development priorities.
Some of the services we offer include:
Sustainability integration and evaluation - we help our clients integrate sustainability into their development practice through our content expertise (eg in water and sanitation or buildings) and through our research approaches that integrate economic, social and environmental dimensions.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) - we directly conduct external evaluations and work with clients to contribute to improving their M&E practice through systems thinking approaches, designing for organisational learning outcomes, innovative M&E methodologies and capacity building in M&E.
Urban Development - we work with partner governments to prepare strategic plans for sustainable cities and urban development such as through the use of the City Development Strategy methodology which encourages wide participation, enhances governance capacity and encourages coordination across different sectors.
Water and sanitation - we are leaders in sustainable water and sanitation systems internationally. We provide services to plan and assess water and sanitation infrastructure, to analyse cost-effectiveness, and to support institutional reform towards sustainable outcomes. We also offer research to investigate the critical area of socio-cultural and gender dimensions of water and sanitation.
